The brief
Crystal Clear has been cleaning windows across Derby since 2015 — a 5-star reputation built one round at a time, on referrals and Facebook reviews. The owners came to us with a clear-eyed brief: turn that local reputation into a digital one. They wanted a website that ranks for "window cleaner Derby" and every village around it, that takes the friction out of getting a quote, and that quietly handles recurring 4-weekly and 8-weekly payments without anyone having to chase invoices.
Service businesses live or die by inbound enquiries. The old site existed but didn't earn — it didn't show up on Google for the right searches, didn't make it obvious how to book, and didn't help the team do less admin. That's a triple-loss for a small operation.
How we approached it
We treated this as a local SEO project as much as a web design one. The single biggest lever for a service business in a defined area is to have a dedicated landing page for every meaningful neighbourhood and town. So that's what we built — 35+ area pages covering Mackworth, Allestree, Mickleover, Spondon, Burton Upon Trent and the rest of the Crystal Clear catchment.
Each area page isn't a copy-paste of the homepage — it's tuned to local search intent, with a hero that mentions the area, FAQs that address local concerns, and a quote CTA that pre-fills the area on the form. From Google's perspective, Crystal Clear is a relevant local result for every one of those searches. From a real customer's perspective, they land on a page that speaks to them.
The third leg of the build is recurring revenue. We integrated GoCardless directly into the quote flow so a customer can sign up to a 4-weekly or 8-weekly clean and have payment handled by direct debit. No invoices, no chasing, no awkward "have you paid yet" texts — the team just turns up and cleans windows.
